School Surveillance and Visitor Management in Tulsa
Control the Front Door, See the Halls
A school’s security system has two jobs: control who gets through the front door during the day, and give administrators a clear record of hallways, entrances, and the pickup line when something has to be reviewed. Tulsa Surveillance Technologies installs cameras, access control, and visitor management for public and private schools and childcare centers across the Tulsa metro, and our Oklahoma alarm license (AC440731) and liability insurance are the paperwork a district or a director has to see before a contractor is allowed on campus.
Being responsible for a school is a large responsibility, and the unknowns are many. Cameras do not change the school day; they make the environment knowable, so that when a question comes from a parent, a teacher, or a police officer there is footage instead of memory.
On the Camera Map
The School Camera Map
The secured vestibule and front office, every exterior door, hallways and stairwells, the cafeteria and gym, the pickup and drop-off lanes, the bus loop, and the parking lots. Classrooms and restrooms are not recorded.
- Secured entry with visitor management
- Hallway and stairwell coverage with clear faces
- Pickup line and bus loop cameras
- Lockdown from the office or a phone
Controlled Entry and Visitor Management
The front door is the system. A secured vestibule with a video intercom lets the office see and speak to a visitor before the inner door is released, and access control holds every other exterior door locked during the day while staff pass with a credential. A lockdown command from the office, or from a phone, secures the building in seconds. Teachers and staff carry fobs or phone credentials that are deactivated the day they leave, so a lost key never becomes a problem. The access control page explains the platforms.
Visitor management on top of that logs who came in, when, and who they were there to see. For a childcare center the same setup covers the pickup process so a child only leaves with an authorized adult.
Cameras That Answer Questions
Hallways, stairwells, the cafeteria, the gym, and the exterior are where incidents happen and where footage is asked for. Cameras are placed to capture faces at a usable size rather than a wide view of a corridor, and the pickup lane and bus loop get coverage because that is where a traffic incident or a custody question will land. Classrooms and restrooms are never recorded. AI platforms such as Scylla add detection for fights, weapons, and other events a camera can be trained to flag, so the office knows about a problem while it is still a problem; the AI platforms page explains how.
Retention is set to the district’s or the center’s policy and access to footage is limited to named administrators. Oklahoma does not require every school to have cameras, but districts and childcare licensing increasingly expect them, and the FAQ covers the common questions. We work with schools in Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Jenks, Bixby, Owasso, and across the metro.
Questions
Schools and Childcare Questions
Are your technicians background checked?
Ask us directly and we will tell you our current policy and provide what your district or licensing requires before work begins.
Can installation happen outside school hours?
Yes. Most school work is scheduled for evenings, weekends, or breaks so the day is not disrupted.
Can the police see our cameras in an emergency?
That can be arranged through the platform and the school’s policy. We set up the access the school authorizes and nothing more.
