Healthcare Surveillance and Access Control in Tulsa

Medication rooms, entrances, and waiting areas, with patient privacy built into the camera map.

Protect the Medication, the Staff, and the Patients

A healthcare facility holds the things a thief wants most: medication, costly equipment, and personal information. It also holds people at their most vulnerable, which means a surveillance system has to be designed with privacy rules in mind and not just mounted where the walls allow. Tulsa Surveillance Technologies installs cameras and access control for hospitals, clinics, dental practices, nursing homes, urgent care centers, and other healthcare buildings across the Tulsa metro.

The rules make professional design essential. Cameras cover entrances, hallways, waiting areas, the pharmacy or medication room door, and parking, and they stay out of exam rooms, patient rooms, and anywhere treatment happens. Access control secures the medication room and the records area with a credential and a log, which is exactly what an auditor asks to see.

What a Healthcare Camera Map Covers

Public entrances and the ambulance or after-hours door, the lobby and waiting area, reception, hallways, the medication room door, supply storage, the records area, staff entrances, and parking. No exam rooms, no treatment areas, no patient rooms.

  • Medication room access control with an audit trail
  • Entrance and waiting area coverage
  • Staff and after-hours door credentials
  • Parking lot cameras for staff leaving at night

Securing Medication and Records

The medication room is the first thing compromised in most healthcare thefts, and a dispensing cabinet is not enough on its own. A camera on the door and access control on the lock give you a record of every entry, paired with a clip of who actually walked in. The same applies to supply storage and to the records room: a credential that is deactivated the day a staff member leaves, a schedule, and a log. The access control page explains the platforms; Brivo is common in clinics because an office manager can run it without IT.

Entrances and waiting areas are covered for the safety of staff and patients and for liability: a fall in the lobby or an altercation at reception is settled by footage. Staff leaving at night need a lit, covered walk to the parking lot, and the after-hours door needs a camera and a reader.

Privacy by Design

Cameras never record treatment, exam rooms, patient rooms, or restrooms, and they are not aimed to capture a screen showing patient information. Audio is left off. Footage access is limited to the administrator and named staff, retention is set to the facility’s policy, and the camera map documents all of it so a compliance officer can see where every camera points before it is installed. Our Oklahoma alarm license (AC440731) and liability insurance are on file for the facility’s vendor records.

We work with healthcare facilities across Tulsa and in Broken Arrow, Jenks, Bixby, Owasso, and the rest of the metro. For a nursing home or an assisted living community, the common-area approach on the apartments page applies alongside the medication security here.

What We Ask on the Walk

A healthcare walk starts with the compliance officer’s rules: where treatment happens, where patient information is visible, who may see footage, and how long it is kept. Then the building: the medication room, supply storage, the records area, every entrance, the waiting room and reception, and the parking where staff leave after dark. The camera map that results marks every position and what it covers, so the officer can approve it before anything is installed.
